Overnight Microsoft announced that Windows Server 2012 Essentials has finished it’s development cycle and now released to manufacturing. This means the code is complete, and they are now just getting the distribution mechanisms sorted. As of November 1, 2012 Microsoft will have the finished product available in the channel and they expect that OEM partners such as HP and Dell will be shipping systems with it preinstalled by end of the December.

You can get a trial version and deploy it right now too if you wish. Upgrade in place is supported simply by changing the product key to that of a purchased version of Windows Server 2012 Essentials and then rebooting the server. No reinstallation required.
I can see that you can download it direct from TechNet and MSDN if you have such subscriptions which is great for resellers wanting to try out this new product.
