Sorry for the pun, but since StorageCraft announced their offer to help, it seems that many others are pushing forward to aid the recovery even before the flood waters recede. These include offers of assistance in terms of product and services from IT professionals and other organisations.
Microsoft have offered free storage on their Azure platform here
CIA Ops are offering free Sharepoint sites and support here
Queensland IT Flood Relief here
I think the Queensland IT Flood Relief in particular is quite worthwhile – it’s aim is to help by talking all the hardware that people have around and refurbishing it for use in Queensland – all of us have I’m sure some older hardware that still works, but it superseded… this is a great chance to contribute to those in need.
And of course do not forget the Queensland Premiers Flood Relief Appeal where you can send monetary donations to help with all the other things that are totally outside the IT side of the equation. Remember, what is a little bit to you is an awful lot to people that have nothing right now… so dig deep!

Many of these were well underway before the VMVault (and StorageCraft) offer…

I was only made aware of them after the fact – so thats my point of view… oh and I’ve got to love someone who does not have the integrity to post using real names etc – surely you know your IP is tracked.

It’s me Wayne. Hilton. I’m just making comments as I see the way things stand. I didn’t even look to see what my details were – now that I see, I had a giggle. 🙂
You must have nothing better to do if you’re looking up my IP!
HiltonT says
… and if I was trying to hide, don’t you think I’d do it from a dynamic IP, not our static IP?

I have no issue with anyone having a comment. The only time I filter comments on this blog is due to spam or confidential info being revealed (which is one time only on the later). I just thought it was unprofessional to hide your identity and not something I’d expect from a member of SMB IT Professionals group. Thanks for rectifying that.
