I was reading one of my regular websites when I found an article about Soluto. I figured I would give it a go and see what it was like.
Soluto a cool web based tool that installs an agent on a PC. It then allows you – the helper/friend/IT Professional, to analyse the problems that the computer has and assist in dealing with them. Below you can see me the user accessing remotely the information on my Notebook.
How about updating and installing applications? Soluto shows me here that I’ve got my Flash and Java that are down rev. And it permits me to upgrade them if I wish. Did I say that I’m actually not in front of the computer I’m analysing? That this computer could be my mothers computer 30km away? I think this is very cool.
It also shows me the number of apps running right now on the computer and classifies them based on a database it has of if they are safe to remove from boot, potentially removable or required for boot and therefore cannot be removed at all. You can expand each of these sections to see more about the apps.
If you expand on any of the items above, it will allow you to review the options for each of the programs and using community feedback, it will even show you what others have done with it. You can then select to Pause or Delay the startup of that program.
One of the common issues with web browsers is the bloat that you can get from too many addins. Soluto shows you the addins you have and again gives commentary on what other people have done with the addin – i.e. Disabling it or removing it.
Soluto then goes on to show you the protection status of your computer. In this case, this computer does not have any Antivirus software installed at the moment, so it gives you the option to install either AVG Free or Microsoft Security Essentials.
The application then also shows you the hardware that you have. As you can see below, it shows me a lot of detail about the laptop that I have including interesting things such as the temperature of the hard drive and the wear level of the battery.
There is a lot more to this web app than meets the eye. It’s in beta right now and it’s free and allows you to add up to 5 computers to your login – that way you can help friends and relatives quickly. No word yet on what they might charge for this once it comes out of beta, but I’m thinking that this could be a really great way to help clients quickly and easily.
You can check out Soluto here. I’ll be keeping an eye on this for sure.

It’s an amazing post in support of all the web users; they will get benefit from it I am sure.
