Windows 10 Announced today

October 1, 2014 by Wayne Small 2 Comments

Most people have called it Windows 9, believing it to be the next version of Windows.  Today Microsoft announced in typical fashion, that they would not stick to standards and would infact jump 9 to go straight to Windows 10.  Tadaaaa……

Honestly – I’m not surprised they decided to call it something different.  What I am surprised about is that they didn’t call it Windows One.  Their entire focus so far is One platform, One Store, One Product Family – so it would have made sense to call it Windows One to me.  Either way we go, it’s looking like they have listened to many of the feedback items they’ve been getting in terms of design and the return of the Start Menu which is great.

I’m very keen to see what they announce with respect to the server versions of this.  Naturally as an MVP I’ve already got inside information that I can’t disclose, so I’m keen to see what they talk about and when they do, I’ll help out with things I’ve learned about the new features.

Windows One – I like it. You should be in marketing, Wayne.

I hope they move to a subscription model for Windows, will make life so much more difficult for the pirates and IT support a lot easier.
