The following RemoteApp program is not in the list of authorized programs on Windows Essential Server

May 26, 2017 by Wayne Small 4 Comments

I’ve seen this error twice this week on two Windows Servers with the Essentials role installed.  One was 2012 R2 Server and the other was 2016 Server.  When you run the Dashboard app from a client computer, you get the error below

Windows cannot stat the RemoteApp program.

The following RemoteApp program is not in the list of authorized programs:

Dashboard

For assistance contact your system administrator.

For some reason yet to be determined, we found that a registry key was set incorrectly.  Thanks to Susan Bradley for your help here.

To fix it,

  • Run Regedit on the Essentials Server itself
  • Find the location HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Terminal Server\TSAppAllowList
  • Find the key “fDisabledAllowList”
  • It will be set to “0”.
  • Change to “1”.

No reboot is needed for this to take effect, just try accessing the dashboard again from the client computer and it will work fine.

In my case, the solution was to change TS Server

    reg add “HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Terminal Server\TSAppAllowList” /v fDisabledAllowList /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f

I solved it just trying to open the RemoteApp through Chrome, so it downloads the rdp file.

It worked for me after removing the last line in the rdp file about loadbalanceinfo
