It turns out that the iOS6 upgrade has more than it’s fair share of bugs. Many are complaining about the screw ups with the maps and youtube on it, but my biggest beef with it is the fact that the sound on my iPad 2 now disappears without me noticing… You see – I use my iPad as an alarm clock next to my bed at night and the alarm goes off at 6am in the morning. Last week, after the upgrade to iOS6, the alarm went off just fine, but I awoke 45 minutes later to see it going off WITHOUT SOUND…. I thought I’d put it on silent originally, but then I noticed no sound when I connected and disconnect the charger. No sound in games, no sound on keypresses, nothing. The only way I could fix it was to power the iPad off and back on. I left if for a day and the sound seemed ok, until the next morning when once more it was gone. I can’t quite figure out what causes it to go, but it now disappears randomly during the day. Again the only solution is to power the iPad off and back on.
After doing some digging, it turns out that many people have had this issue or ones very similar to it after the upgrade to iOS6. There does not appear to be a solid fix available as yet, so we need to wait for Apple to do something about it. For the moment, the only way I can ensure my sound works is to power cycle the device each night before going to bed and then cross my fingers that it wakes me in the morning.
Hurry up and fix it Apple!

Did you manage to get this sorted out? Hopefully 6.0.1 resolved it.
