I came across this today and it kinda rings true in terms of just how much things change yet still stay the same. I’m not saying Apple are unique in this respect, but being a Windows fanboy, I guess I see it less from Microsoft 
My solution to the iPad? Well it’s the Tega V2. Mine arrives this week and I can’t wait to get my fingers on it and see how much it adds to my productivity
