Microsoft have today released information on TechNet for migration to SBS 2011 Standard Edition from SBS 2003. This is the first and most likely method that many of our clients will be needing to follow to move over to the new platform given many are still on SBS 2003. This document available here .
I’ll be posting more on my migration from SBS 2008 to SBS 2011 over the coming week, so stay tuned.

Well how’d the migration go?
Wayne Small says
You know… for the first time ever…. I decided to actually take a break and I didn’t even attempt the migration 🙂 It’s on the cards over the next few weeks though.

To quote Ron of 6th January, “Well how’d the migration go?”
I’m surprised there is not more discussion on this topic.

Did anyone tried the mirgration from SBS 2003 to SBS 2011?
The Migration preparation Tool scare me a bit, I am not sure if I dare to run it on the source server (sbs2003)
Mark Grogan says
I’ve completed this recently as a fixed price prject for a customer. Had a number of hours built-in for risk in the event that there were issues.
Absolutley none encountered. The migration works smoothly and is well documented.
Mark Roberts says
How long did the migration take?
Arny says
I have a client with a 2008 R2 member server on an SBS 2003 domain. Will this server migrate like the client PCs during a 2003 to 2011 SBS migration?
Wayne Small says
Hi Arny,
There’s not a lot of change to the servers at all, so provided you set the right DNS on the server (I assume it’s got a fixed IP now) you should be good.

Unquestionably believe that which you said. Your favorite reason seemed
to be on the web the simplest thing to be aware of.
I say to you, I definitely get annoyed while people consider
worries that they plainly don’t know about.
You managed to hit the nail upon the top and defined
out the whole thing without having side-effects , people
could take a signal. Will probably be back to get more. Thanks
