It’s Saturday (ok maybe it’s not but I wrote this then – go with me on this will ya) … I’ve been travelling for the past two weekend and away from home. It’s been a great trip from many different perspectives. Right now I’m sitting out back on my back patio, U2 blasting on the stereo system, cold drink on the table, smell of fresh cut grass (not mine – it died while I was away), gentle breeze, and lovely weather… Oh how I wish I could do this every day. It’s time like this that you need to sit back and consider your future, what you are doing, where you are going and how you will get there. No – I’m not talking about work, I’m talking about your relaxation, your life – everything BUT work.
This year I’ve been focusing a lot more on my personal life for many reasons. One of the things though that hit me on this recent trip to the USA for business was that while many people have business plans to help their business grow, I’ve never really heard of people having a relaxation plan.
Normally most small business owners simply allocate that time they are not work to relaxation and seldom do I hear of people planning for relaxation which I’m realising is bad… very bad. So I plan to change this – right now in fact.
I’m planning my next trip away – just me – on my own. Not telling anyone where I’m going just when I leave and when I’ll be back. Escaping for a week or so without the challenges of needing to be contacted. Ok – sounds nice right? What about you – do you have a plan for your relaxation or do you just grab what you can? Will you burn out if you don’t get enough time for you?
What things need to be in your relaxation plan?
