I’ve just finished building two HP Proliant DL380 G9 servers for a clients project. As part of that I downloaded and installed the latest HP SUM to ensure all drivers, firmware etc are up to date. In the past I’ve never had an issue with this, it’s normally a matter of installing them, reboot and you’re good to go.
I discovered however that after installing HP SUM on both servers and rebooting, that two of the RAID Array disks disappeared entirely from Windows Explorer.
Checking Disk Management showed that they were offline – simple fix to right click on them and make them online and they were fine once more. I did another reboot to verify all is good and it was.
I’m mystified as to why these disks went offline and didn’t come back online correctly and have not seen it before, but it is something I will certainly watch for in future.
