What is all the fuss about Kerio?

May 11, 2010 by Wayne Small 1 Comment

Recently at SMBNation, long time SBS MVP Eriq Neale announced that he has ditched Exchange Server from his SBS 2008 installation and is now running on Kerio Connect for his mail system.  Well, I’ve got a confession to make… yes – I too am using Kerio products for SBSfaq’s business requirements.  I ditched my ISA server some time back and have been using Kerio Firewall in it’s place and have been immensely happy with it.  I’m also testing out Kerio Connect for use with one of my family domains and am likewise very happy with it.  Shortly I’ll look to deploying it in client sites for those on a tight budget.

Kerio have been for some time now providing both firewall and mail products to suit the SMB Space.  Harry Brelsford introduce me to them last year and I’ve been investigating how they might better suit some of my clients requirements.  Like all good IT Professionals, the best way to do that is to play with them yourself first and then deploy to paying clients once you understand it.  If you have not checked out who they are and you’re based in Sydney then you should come along to the Kerio Partner Forum on May 25th, in Sydney.  Check out this blog post for more information and registration details.

I’ve used Kerio for a few years. Love it!!! With my ever increasing mobile workforce, the iPhone connectivity (iPhone thinks it’s a pure Exchange server!) BB connecitivity and pure collaboration abilities, it’s perfect.
