Problems using the Windows 7 USB Download Tool

May 19, 2013 by Wayne Small 6 Comments

I’m spending some time rebuilding my aging laptop with Windows 8.  I’ve chosen to do a complete reformat and install using Windows 8 Enterprise.  In order to install Win 8 Enterprise, I’m using the Windows 7 USB/Download Tool to create a bootable image from an ISO over to my USB stick.

This morning I’ve tried 4 different USB keys and all of them have failed to be able to create a Windows 8 bootable image.  The Windows 7 USB/DVD Download tool keeps telling me that there’s errors and problems creating the USB image.

In the end I figured out the issue – my Trend Micro WFBS 8.0 antivirus software was silently blocking the attempts of the USB download tool to create the bootable image.  I temporarily unloaded (not uninstalled) the Trend WFBS Client Security Agent and now I’m creating the bootable USB without an issue.  You might want to consider this yourself regardless of the Antivirus software you use as they can all block writes to USB if they have that capability.

I discovered the same thing a couple of years ago. I added an exception for the executable in WFBS.

Hi there this is kinda of off topic but I was wondering
if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code
with HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding experience so
I wanted to get guidance from someone with experience.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

But within the last few years, IPTV has dwarfed the grade of
DVD and Cable TV. By this, you might be reinforcing that negativity and attracting to yourself MORE.
Now, movies aren’t one and only thing that piracy trackers allow links too.

In that release Anonymous states have disabled some Swedish government or affiliate websites,
and is targeting others in actions which were dubbed Operation Pirate Bay (#Op
    – Pirate – Bay) and Operation PRQ (#Op – PRQ). Sites like i – Tunes have proven that inspite of the huge number of pirate sites
that people are still thrilled to pay to legally download music in the Internet.
Taking a cue from that, if publishers will make
their ebooks open to a larger audience instantly, it can and will
encourage readers to go for that authentic version.
