Bite the hand that feeds you then complain you are hungry

October 2, 2008 by Wayne Small Leave a Comment

I ve been involved in community for more years than I care to admit. One of the most distressing things that I see at times is where peoples desire to express their opinion takes it s toll on others in the community. I know that at times I too have been guilty of this. Below is an excerpt from an email I sent to one such community today.

Guys go ahead. Continue to bite the hand that feeds you and then you can bitch and moan about how they don t feed you anymore. There is a way to get a point across without all the bitching and moaning. I m saddened by the attitude shown both here and in the community when Microsoft Blue Badges take time to try to interface with us on our level and in our environments. They try to make changes that we tell them that we want and when it s not EXACTLY what one person had in mind, we condemn them for even having the balls to stand up and try. You guys have no freaking idea how Robbie fights for the things that you raise and I ve seen it first hand when he has so correctly told people inside to get stuffed on behalf of the community. Shoot the messenger for sure. That s the way to make things happen. But then don t continue to bitch when they stop sending messages to us.

I d encourage you to think about how we deal with others in the community and keep this in mind.
