Best wishes Eriq for a speedy recovery.

March 16, 2011 by Wayne Small 3 Comments

Many of you will know of Eriq Neale – long time SBS MVP and author of several books on SBS – the most recent being the SBS 2008 Unleashed book from SAMs.  Eriq is a dear friend of mine and has recently been diagnosed with cancer.  His story is best told in his own words on his blog here.  I whole heartedly wish Eriq the best for a speedy recovery from the things he has yet to go through.  You can also check out this site where he’s tracking progress as well.

The key thing I see in his tale however is the common trap that many of us fall into – we don’t care enough about ourselves.  We do not put ourselves first when we should.  Normally we are too busy attending to our customers to have time to sort things out for ourselves.  Eriq thought that the pain and discomfort he was feeling was a result of something else – but had he not taken the time to get it checked out more thoroughly as he has, it could have been a lot worse.

The message for today – take some time to focus on YOU… take time to sharpen the saw so to speak.

My prayers and thoughts are with Anna and Eriq. It is heartwarming to know that Q is very loved and everyone will be sending good thoughts his way.

Thanks for the kinds words, mate. And your insight is spot on. If you don’t take care of yourself, you can’t take care of those around you, family, friends, or customers!
